Already have rates?

Type the rates on your board for the same currency and see the margins they contain against today's reference rate.

Type your rates to compare them.

A rate sheet to print

The same margins for a dozen currencies at once, for a counter sheet or to check a board. Untick what you do not exchange, then print.

From a calculator to your screens

The easyCMS currency board does this sum for every currency you exchange, every hour, from the official reference rates, and shows the result on your window and counter screens. Lock any rate to keep exactly what you typed, add gold and silver per gram, and put the same rates on your own website. The rules on what a board must show are in our guide to exchange rate display rules, and the ready-made boards are on the templates page.

Fragen

How is a buy rate worked out from a margin?
Start from the reference rate, the price of one unit of the foreign currency in your currency. The buy rate is that price lowered by your buy margin, and the sell rate is the price raised by your sell margin. With a reference of 0.8915 EUR per dollar and 2% each way, you buy at 0.8736 and sell at 0.9094. Buy rates round down and sell rates round up, so rounding never works against you.
What is the difference between a margin and a commission?
A margin is built into the rate the customer sees; a commission is a separate charge on top. Many offices use one or the other. If your margin is in the rate, do not advertise "0% commission": in the UK and France that counts as misleading.
Where do the reference rates come from?
From the European Central Bank’s daily reference rates, taken directly from the ECB, and for the currencies it does not publish, from other central banks through the open-source Frankfurter service. They are daily official rates, not the live market. You can type your own reference rate instead.
Why quote some currencies per 100?
For currencies worth much less than your own, such as the yen or the forint, a rate for one unit has too many zeros to read. Quoting per 100 or per 1,000 keeps four meaningful digits on the board.
