Images and video files you upload use it. Web pages, live streams, RSS, weather, clocks, dashboards and DataSets use none, because the player fetches them live. Video is what fills a library: one 30-second 1080p clip is about the same as twenty photographs.

How much does a screen download?

Each player keeps a local copy of everything scheduled to it, so the first sync downloads the library once. After that it fetches only what changed. The tool assumes a share of the library is replaced each week and gives the weekly and monthly figure per screen, and for the whole network.

Which video bitrates does the tool assume?

4 Mbps for 720p, 8 Mbps for 1080p and 20 Mbps for 4K, which are typical H.264 exports for signage. A file exported at a higher bitrate takes proportionally more space; re-encoding at these rates is the usual fix for a full library.

What happens if I run out of space?

Uploads stop until you delete something or move up a plan. The account includes 1GB, PRO 5GB and Enterprise 20GB, and more space is available on request.

Reading the numbers

A signage library is smaller than people fear and a video library is larger than they hope. Forty photographs at a sensible export size are 60 MB. Six half-minute clips at 1080p are 180 MB. The account's 1GB covers a shop, a cafe or a reception with room to spare; PRO's 5GB is where video-led promotions live; Enterprise's 20GB is for networks and agencies.

Bandwidth is rarely the constraint. Each player keeps its own copy of what it plays, so a screen with no connection keeps running and a screen on a poor one only fetches what has changed.
