Getting Started with easyCMS

Learn how to set up your easyCMS digital signage account, upload media, build your first layout and get your first content playing on screen in minutes.

easyCMS is a cloud-hosted digital signage platform: you manage everything from a web browser, and your screens pull their content automatically. Under the hood, easyCMS is powered by the proven open-source Xibo engine, so you get a mature, battle-tested signage workflow wrapped in a simple, affordable package. This guide walks you from a fresh account to your first content on screen.

1. Create your account

An easyCMS account is a one-time purchase of 49€, there are no monthly fees. It includes access to the cloud CMS, one display licence, 300MB of cloud storage, free software updates and access to our video tutorials. After purchase you will receive your login details and the web address of your CMS by email. Log in from any modern browser; nothing needs to be installed on your computer.

2. Understand the building blocks

Everything in easyCMS revolves around four concepts:

  1. Media Library: the storage area for your images, videos and other files.
  2. Layouts: the designs shown on screen. A layout can be a single full-screen zone or split into multiple regions, each playing its own content.
  3. Schedule: the calendar that decides which layout plays on which display, and when.
  4. Displays: the physical screens running the easyCMS player app, each connected to your account with its own licence.

The typical workflow is: upload media, place it on a layout, publish the layout, then schedule it to a display.

3. Upload your first media

Open the Media Library and add a file, you can drag and drop it straight into the browser or pick it from your computer. Common image formats (JPG, PNG) and videos (MP4 is the safest choice across all players) are supported. Give the file a recognisable name; you will thank yourself later when your library grows.

4. Build a simple layout

Go to Layouts and create a new one. Pick a resolution that matches your screen, 1920×1080 for a standard landscape display. For your first test, keep it simple: add your uploaded image or video so it fills the whole canvas. Use the built-in preview to check how it looks, then publish the layout. Only published layouts can appear on screens, so do not skip this step.

5. Connect a display

Install the easyCMS player app on your playback device (Windows PC, Android box or a compatible smart display), then point it at your CMS using your CMS address (normally https://app.myeasycms.com) and key. The new display appears in the Displays page of the CMS, where you authorise it. Each authorised display consumes one licence, your account includes the first one, and additional lifetime licences cost 99€ per display. See Connecting your first display for the full walkthrough.

6. Schedule your layout

Open the Schedule, create an event, choose your display and your published layout, and set it to run “always” for now. Within a couple of minutes the player checks in, downloads the content and starts playing. You can also assign a default layout to the display, this is what plays whenever nothing else is scheduled, so your screen is never blank.

Where to go next

Once your test content is playing, explore multi-zone layouts, playlists and dayparted scheduling to build a real signage channel. If anything is unclear, our support team is available at info@myeasycms.com, and every account includes video tutorials covering the basics.
